Vitivisio, computer vision in the vineyard

Vitivisio

The company

Vitivisio builds a precision viticulture solution that combines a vision sensor, artificial intelligence and an online platform. The principle: observe every vine during mechanised work, analyse the images with computer vision, and return the information as maps and histories, on a computer, tablet or smartphone. The climate weakens the vine; data becomes a decision tool.

Vitivisio's chain: the Vitibox sensor, mounted on any machine, photographs every vine with a centimetre-level RTK position; vision models detect, count and classify; the eVitivisio platform returns the results as maps.

The sensor

The Vitibox fits any vineyard machine: tractor, straddle tractor, tracked vehicle, quad or robot. As it passes, it photographs every vine, lit by its own lights, and geolocates each image to the centimetre with RTK GPS.

My work

Since December 2024, I have been working on the artificial intelligence and vision side: the chain that turns the sensor's images into useful information. Building and preparing the vine image datasets, training and evaluating the detection models, and making sure their results reach the winegrowers' maps, reliably.

A photo of a vine taken at night by the sensor, lit by its lights: bunches boxed in red by the model, each with a confidence score between 0.90 and 0.97.

The analyses cover bunch counting, mapping dead and missing vines, the vine's vigour and balance, tracking decline, and scouting for flavescence dorée, a vine disease under mandatory control.

The platform

The results arrive in eVitivisio: the whole vineyard seen from above, plot by plot (Vitiparcel), every geolocated image viewable on site, from a smartphone (Vitiview), and the analyses rendered as maps (Vitimap).

eVitivisio's home screen: an aerial view of a vineyard with the monitored plots coloured in red, with indicators and the list of acquisitions.
